The story of music stars Rihanna and Chris Brown has taken many twists and turns throughout the years and it came to a head in 2009 when Brown was arrested on domestic abuse charges and was later found convicted on all counts. He managed to get a plea deal to avoid jail time but his career looked all but over while Rihanna continued to top the charts.

Here we are, almost three years since Brown was charged, and his career seems to be doing fine and then some as he won a Grammy Award for “F.A.M.E.”, which took home the honors for Best R&B Album. The Grammys have been criticized for giving Brown an award given his past (ironically, the assault took place at a pre-Grammy party), but the one person it doesn’t seem to bother is Rihanna. Now, the two have been seen tweeting to each other and Brown sent Rihanna a birthday wish last week.

But the plot is getting thicker now as the two are working together; Rihanna is featured on the remix to Brown’s “Turn Up The Music”, while he returned the favor on a remix to her “Birthday Cake” song, both of which were released on the internet on Monday. Rihanna has stated that she has forgiven Brown for the assault and that she enjoys his music, and she is taking criticism from all corners.

The question “Will Rihanna and Chris Brown officially get back together as a couple in 2012” once seemed silly to even ask, but now, you have to wonder. The two obviously have some sort of connection that only they understand, even though it could be career-ending for Rihanna more so than Brown. Of course, Plummer will have to beat a solid list of actors, such as Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Marilyn), Jonah Hill (Moneyball), Nick Nolte (Warrior) and Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), but one omission has certainly aided his chances on February 26th. Albert Brooks has earned rave reviews for his performance in Drive, but he was left out of the Oscars and many entertainment experts feel he would have been the one to stop Plummer.

However, Von Sydow has emerged as the darkhorse candidate to stop Plummer’s march to break Jessica Tandy’s record, which she set for the win in the Best Actress category for her work in Driving Miss Daisy in 1989. With his earlier wins and his main competition missing out on a chance to compete for the Oscar, it looks like a clear road for Plummer to become a part of Academy Award history.

Streep Looking To Sweep Awards Season After BAFTA Win

Her wins in the BAFTA and Golden Globes are certainly indications of where the Academy is leaning and you also have to consider that she hasn’t won an Oscar in 28 years, so that could certainly sway enough voters to give Streep an edge.

In addition to the BAFTA and Golden Globe awards, Streep has been honored by the New York Film Critics Circle, the London Critics Circle, so Streep is off to a flying start. Only a late surge for Davis is standing behind Streep, one of the all-time greats in entertainment, and her third Oscar.

Even the Grammys were overshadowed by Houston’s death, and while Adele’s massive night will never be forgotten, Houston loomed large over the show like a shadow, and many viewers were simply watching and waiting to hear the Academy pay their respects to Houston, who won six Grammys over her career. Jennifer Hudson, who came to prominence on “American Idol” and has since gone on to win many awards in her own right, performed a short and poignant version of “I Will Always Love You”; the Houston version netted two awards for Houston in 1994.

It was also announced during the Grammys by Ryan Seacrest that “American Idol” would also be doing their tribute to the late songstress when the show moves to Hollywood. Meanwhile, Simon Cowell, the creator of “American Idol” and “The X Factor”, said that he attempted to bring Houston on board as a judge for “Factor” and the people on “American Idol” also wanted her to be a part of the show. It just proves how major of an influence Houston was on these shows; you can’t go through one without hearing one of her songs, and no one will ever do them justice. As it did with the Grammys, look for Houston’s shadow to loom over “American Idol” as well.

The 54th Grammy Awards have finally arrived as the show will take place tonight in Los Angeles. It could be a somber mood following the unexpected passing of Whitney Houston on Saturday at the young age of 48. Houston was one of the greatest female singers ever to step on stage.

A number of other females will try to carry the torch now as it’s expected to be a big night for Adele, who is not only favored to win a slew of awards but is also expected to make her live return to the stage for the first time since being sidelined with vocal-cord surgery late last year.

At last check, Adele was favored to win at least three major awards: Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Record of the Year. That would be quite the sweep if the 23-year-old songstress was able to take them all home. For Album of the Year, she’s in tight with some tough competition like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and The Foo Fighters, but considering that 21 reached the top spot in the charts in the U.K., U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland while selling a ridiculous 17 million copies, she’ll be hard to take down.

Santorum Back In Business But Odds Makers Still Doubt Him

As of Wednesday night, odds showed that Mitt Romney was a -600 favorite to win the right to go up against current President Barrack Obama while Rick Santorum was at +600. Sure, the odds can change at any point but you’d have to think Santorum has a decent shot.

The key here is that Romney looked like a sure-fire winner after taking New Hampshire, Florida and Nevada. He also finished a close second in Iowa and South Carolina. But Santorum has come storming back to the surprise of many. On Tuesday, he was anointed the winner of Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, which means that with his previous win in Iowa, he actually leads in states carried (four to three). Even so, Romney leads the way in delegate count in 94 to 71 and in popular vote 1,183,167 (or 38.9%) compared to Santorum’s 569,597 (or 18.7%).

Romney has failed to pull away from the pack many times and it looks like Santorum now might have a shot. Even though the odds heavily favor Romney (maybe not for long), Santorum might be a good value play as he gains momentum.

On Thursday, Roseanne tweeted the follwing: “I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS. I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice”.

First thing is first: she’s going to have to win the Green Party nomination.

The question still remains: why is Roseanne all of the sudden making a run for the White House? In her words, she believes that the two main parties in America (The Democrats and The Republicans) are both owned by corporate America. Her goal is to represent the people and not corporate greed.

The real question that the Green Party might want to ask is who does Roseanne appeal to right now? After all, she still has to get votes and even if this is a publicity stunt, how far can it really go? Voters might not take kindly to the fact that NBC picked up her sitcom pilot Downward Pilot last month, and her political posturing might be nothing more than drumming up some press for that show.

We’ll get the answers shortly. Roseanne has been added to the California primary ballot, which includes 23 other candidates. The primary itself will take place on June 5th.

Miss Piggy has challenged Clooney to a wrestling match at the Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) 2012. Sounds a bit odd, doesn’t it? The Hollywood diva and Muppets TV star is hosting the official red carpet show for the film awards and she’s relishing a chance at meeting Clooney. Her wrestling reference refers to Clooney dating WWE wrestler Stacey Keibler. Miss Piggy says she wouldn’t wrestle Keibler because she doesn’t wrestle girlfriends, but she is willing to have a best two-out-of-three with Clooney. What’s more likely to happen is the tandem just wrestle on the microphone since Miss Piggy doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to her questions.

For Clooney, the bigger focus will be on February 26th when he finds out if the Academy will tab him as the best actor for 2012. He shined in The Descendants but has some stiff competition from Jean Dujardin from The Artist. Brad Pitt’s effort in Moneyball as well as Gary Oldman’s and Demian Bichir’s performances in their respective movies are considered far bigger long shots to win the golden statue.
