Rihanna, Chris Brown Heading Towards Another Relationship?

The story of music stars Rihanna and Chris Brown has taken many twists and turns throughout the years and it came to a head in 2009 when Brown was arrested on domestic abuse charges and was later found convicted on all counts. He managed to get a plea deal to avoid jail time but his career looked all but over while Rihanna continued to top the charts.

Here we are, almost three years since Brown was charged, and his career seems to be doing fine and then some as he won a Grammy Award for “F.A.M.E.”, which took home the honors for Best R&B Album. The Grammys have been criticized for giving Brown an award given his past (ironically, the assault took place at a pre-Grammy party), but the one person it doesn’t seem to bother is Rihanna. Now, the two have been seen tweeting to each other and Brown sent Rihanna a birthday wish last week.

But the plot is getting thicker now as the two are working together; Rihanna is featured on the remix to Brown’s “Turn Up The Music”, while he returned the favor on a remix to her “Birthday Cake” song, both of which were released on the internet on Monday. Rihanna has stated that she has forgiven Brown for the assault and that she enjoys his music, and she is taking criticism from all corners.

The question “Will Rihanna and Chris Brown officially get back together as a couple in 2012” once seemed silly to even ask, but now, you have to wonder. The two obviously have some sort of connection that only they understand, even though it could be career-ending for Rihanna more so than Brown. When you consider their history, nothing that happens will be a surprise.

Plummer On Path To Historic Oscar Win

The story of Christopher Plummer is one that you will be very familiar with by the time the Academy Awards are presented on February 26th in Hollywood, as Plummer is aiming to become the oldest actor or actress to win an Oscar at 82 years, 42 days.

2012 Oscars – Will Christopher Plummer win Best Supporting Actor?
Yes -4000
No +1500

Plummer was first nominated for an Oscar two years ago in the Supporting Actor category for his work in The Last Station but the native of Toronto, Ontario certainly has to be considered the favorite for this year’s honor for his role in The Beginners, which stars Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent. He has essentially swept the Supporting Actor category throughout award season, picking up hardware from BAFTA, The Screen Actors Guild, the Golden Globes and from the Film Critics Associations chapters in Toronto, Los Angeles, Detroit and Indiana, among others.

Of course, Plummer will have to beat a solid list of actors, such as Kenneth Branagh (My Week With Marilyn), Jonah Hill (Moneyball), Nick Nolte (Warrior) and Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close), but one omission has certainly aided his chances on February 26th. Albert Brooks has earned rave reviews for his performance in Drive, but he was left out of the Oscars and many entertainment experts feel he would have been the one to stop Plummer.

However, Von Sydow has emerged as the darkhorse candidate to stop Plummer’s march to break Jessica Tandy’s record, which she set for the win in the Best Actress category for her work in Driving Miss Daisy in 1989. With his earlier wins and his main competition missing out on a chance to compete for the Oscar, it looks like a clear road for Plummer to become a part of Academy Award history.

Streep Looking To Sweep Awards Season After BAFTA Win

It is award season in Hollywood and all that is left is the 84th Academy Awards, which will take place on February 26th at the Kodak Theater. Don’t be surprised if one of the stars of the show is the legendary Meryl Streep, who has been nominated for 17 Oscars and has come away with two (1979’s Supporting Actress honor for Kramer vs. Kramer and a 1982 nod as the lead in Sophie’s Choice).

In 2012, Streep is up for Best Actress due to her turn as Margaret Thatcher inThe Iron Lady and when we heard that they were making a movie based on the life of the longest-serving U.K. Prime Minister of the 20th century, only one woman could truly play it. So far, Streep has picked up a number of awards for her performance, and the probability of receiving her third Oscar is very high.

2012 Oscars – Odds to Win Best Actress

Viola Davis (The Help) 5/7
Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady) 23/20
Michelle Williams (My Week With Marilyn) 15/1
Rooney Mara (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) 40/1
Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs) 50/1

Streep scooped the award for Best Actress on Sunday for the BAFTA’s in London, England and that will go quite nicely with her Golden Globe, which was picked up back in January in Beverly Hills. The only major award that Streep didn’t win was at the Screen Actors Guild event in Los Angeles at the end of January when she was beaten out by Viola Davis of The Help. Her wins in the BAFTA and Golden Globes are certainly indications of where the Academy is leaning and you also have to consider that she hasn’t won an Oscar in 28 years, so that could certainly sway enough voters to give Streep an edge.

In addition to the BAFTA and Golden Globe awards, Streep has been honored by the New York Film Critics Circle, the London Critics Circle, so Streep is off to a flying start. Only a late surge for Davis is standing behind Streep, one of the all-time greats in entertainment, and her third Oscar.

American Idol Prepares Houston Tribute; Females Favored To Win

The entertainment world was shaken on Saturday night when reports poured in of Whitney Houston’s death at 48-years-old. Regardless of perceptions, no one can dispute her place in music history. With one of the all-time great voices, Houston has so many classics outside of her catalogue of hits that she will live on – especially on shows like “American Idol”, which will pay tribute to her this week.

American Idol Season 11 – Who will win?
Male -105
Female -125

Even the Grammys were overshadowed by Houston’s death, and while Adele’s massive night will never be forgotten, Houston loomed large over the show like a shadow, and many viewers were simply watching and waiting to hear the Academy pay their respects to Houston, who won six Grammys over her career. Jennifer Hudson, who came to prominence on “American Idol” and has since gone on to win many awards in her own right, performed a short and poignant version of “I Will Always Love You”; the Houston version netted two awards for Houston in 1994.

It was also announced during the Grammys by Ryan Seacrest that “American Idol” would also be doing their tribute to the late songstress when the show moves to Hollywood. Meanwhile, Simon Cowell, the creator of “American Idol” and “The X Factor”, said that he attempted to bring Houston on board as a judge for “Factor” and the people on “American Idol” also wanted her to be a part of the show. It just proves how major of an influence Houston was on these shows; you can’t go through one without hearing one of her songs, and no one will ever do them justice. As it did with the Grammys, look for Houston’s shadow to loom over “American Idol” as well.

As one important female voice passes, maybe a new female one will emerge. The odds makers at Bovada Sportsbook are projecting a female winner for Season 11. We’ll get a better idea as the participants are whittled down in the coming weeks.

Adele Favored For Big Night At 2012 Grammys

The 54th Grammy Awards have finally arrived as the show will take place tonight in Los Angeles. It could be a somber mood following the unexpected passing of Whitney Houston on Saturday at the young age of 48. Houston was one of the greatest female singers ever to step on stage.

A number of other females will try to carry the torch now as it’s expected to be a big night for Adele, who is not only favored to win a slew of awards but is also expected to make her live return to the stage for the first time since being sidelined with vocal-cord surgery late last year.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet the Grammys!

At last check, Adele was favored to win at least three major awards: Album of the Year, Artist of the Year and Record of the Year. That would be quite the sweep if the 23-year-old songstress was able to take them all home. For Album of the Year, she’s in tight with some tough competition like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and The Foo Fighters, but considering that 21 reached the top spot in the charts in the U.K., U.S., Canada, Australia, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland while selling a ridiculous 17 million copies, she’ll be hard to take down.

She’s also expected to perform for the first time since she underwent microsurgery in Boston to treat a benign polyp on her vocal cords. She was forced to cancel U.S. tour dates in the fall last year. Hopefully the talented crooner has a smooth performance tonight.

In other categories, it’s also expected to be a banner night for Nicki Minaj as the hip-hop artist has been one of the most successful females in recent memory. Not only is she favored in a number of rap/hip-hop categories, she’s also expected to take home the award for Best New Artist.

Tune in the Grammys on CBS 8:00 PM ET and check back with us for our wrap-up of the coverage after the show.

Don’t Bet On Cruz, Tebow Joining Dancing With The Stars

The new Dancing With The Stars season returns to action on March 19th and while we still don’t know who will be part of the cast for season 14, we do know who won’t be part of the ensemble. New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz, who was rumored to be an option because of his salsa-dancing touchdown celebrations, won’t be part of the cast. Neither will Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow.

Dancing With the Stars Season 14 – Who will win?

So with Cruz and Tebow out, will there be any athletes joining the cast? One rumor that seems to be gaining some steam is surrounding quarterback Vince Young. He announced via Twitter that he’s been invited and followed it up with a vote of confidence: “U know I got them dancing skills.”

A couple of Jersey Shore cast members are rumored to be targeted as JWoWW was originally eyed and now Deena is on the radar. Kylie and Kendall Jenner have also been bandied about, which would add to the Kardashian ranks to do the show.

On the political side of things, former GOP nominees Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain have been approached and you can bet on any other candidates falling out of the race being checked as well.

Also, blogosphere superstar Perez Hilton has also been chit-chatted about. He’d definitely ramp up even more publicity for the show than he normally does.

The full cast for Dancing With the Stars Season 14 will be revealed on Good Morning America on February 28th.

Santorum Back In Business But Odds Makers Still Doubt Him

It’s often hard to argue with the odds makers at Bovada Sportsbook. Let’s face it: they’re on top of the information before we are, and they know more than we do. It’s kind of like an actuary from an insurance company. They’ve been there, done that.

Even so, we might have a bit of a bone to pick with the latest lines for the GOP race for the presidential nominee. As of Wednesday night, odds showed that Mitt Romney was a -600 favorite to win the right to go up against current President Barrack Obama while Rick Santorum was at +600. Sure, the odds can change at any point but you’d have to think Santorum has a decent shot.

Bet politics at Bovada Sportsbook right now and make your Presidential vote count even more.

2012 US Presidential Election – Republican Nominee
Mitt Romney 1/6
Rick Santorum 6/1
Newt Gingrich 14/1
Ron Paul 25/1

The key here is that Romney looked like a sure-fire winner after taking New Hampshire, Florida and Nevada. He also finished a close second in Iowa and South Carolina. But Santorum has come storming back to the surprise of many. On Tuesday, he was anointed the winner of Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, which means that with his previous win in Iowa, he actually leads in states carried (four to three). Even so, Romney leads the way in delegate count in 94 to 71 and in popular vote 1,183,167 (or 38.9%) compared to Santorum’s 569,597 (or 18.7%).

Romney has failed to pull away from the pack many times and it looks like Santorum now might have a shot. Even though the odds heavily favor Romney (maybe not for long), Santorum might be a good value play as he gains momentum.

Roseanne Barr Betting On Green Party Nomination

If you like to read stuff like The Onion News, you probably did a double-take when you read our headline or when you first heard about Roseanne Barr’s quest to become the next President of the United States. On Thursday, Roseanne tweeted the follwing: “I am running for Green Party nominee for POTUS. I am an official candidate. I am4 the Greening of America&the world. Green=peace/justice”.

Bet politics at Bovada Sportsbook right now and make your Presidential vote count even more.

First thing is first: she’s going to have to win the Green Party nomination.

Will Roseanne Barr become the official presidential nominee of the Green Party?
Yes 5/1

The question still remains: why is Roseanne all of the sudden making a run for the White House? In her words, she believes that the two main parties in America (The Democrats and The Republicans) are both owned by corporate America. She believes both parties are essentially bought – or sold to the highest bidder – and the people don’t actually get a voice in the matter. Her goal is to represent the people and not corporate greed.

The real question that the Green Party might want to ask is who does Roseanne appeal to right now? After all, she still has to get votes and even if this is a publicity stunt, how far can it really go? Voters might not take kindly to the fact that NBC picked up her sitcom pilot Downward Pilot last month, and her political posturing might be nothing more than drumming up some press for that show.

We’ll get the answers shortly. Roseanne has been added to the California primary ballot, which includes 23 other candidates. The primary itself will take place on June 5th.

Miss Piggy Challenges Oscar Favorite Clooney To Wrestling Match

The 2012 Oscars are less than three weeks away and you’d think that George Clooney, the favorite to win the award for best actor, is focused in on the big day. Instead, Miss Piggy trying to do what she always does: step into his spotlight and share the attention.

Miss Piggy has challenged Clooney to a wrestling match at the Orange British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) 2012. Sounds a bit odd, doesn’t it? The Hollywood diva and Muppets TV star is hosting the official red carpet show for the film awards and she’s relishing a chance at meeting Clooney. Her wrestling reference refers to Clooney dating WWE wrestler Stacey Keibler. Miss Piggy says she wouldn’t wrestle Keibler because she doesn’t wrestle girlfriends, but she is willing to have a best two-out-of-three with Clooney. What’s more likely to happen is the tandem just wrestle on the microphone since Miss Piggy doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to her questions.

For Clooney, the bigger focus will be on February 26th when he finds out if the Academy will tab him as the best actor for 2012. He shined in The Descendants but has some stiff competition from Jean Dujardin from The Artist. Brad Pitt’s effort in Moneyball as well as Gary Oldman’s and Demian Bichir’s performances in their respective movies are considered far bigger long shots to win the golden statue.

2012 Oscars – Odds to Win Best Actor
George Clooney (The Descendants) 4/9
Jean Dujardin (The Artist) 3/2
Brad Pitt (Moneyball) 15/1
Gary Oldman (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) 25/1
Demian Bichir (A Better Life) 50/1

Betting On Kelly Clarkson’s Anthem Performance At Super Bowl XLVI

We’ve enlightened you about the Super Bowl parties, we’ve detailed our favorite Super Bowl recipes and we’ve handicapped the Super Bowl halftime props. There’s been plenty of game analysis in the Gambling Beat as well, which means all we have left to do is look at some pre-game props that feature pop star Kelly Clarkson, who will be singing the national anthem.

Join Bovada Sportsbook right now and bet on Kelly Clarkson’s anthem performance in the Super Bowl propssection.

What will Kelly Clarkson wear to sing the National Anthem?
Super Bowl XLVI or official NFL shirt 2/1
Patriots Jersey or shirt 15/1
Colts Jersey or shirt 10/1
Giants Jersey or shirt 15/1
Anything else 1/3

Kelly Clarkson is a southern girl from Fort Worth, Texas, so it’s unlikely that she’ll have much of a vested interested to the point where she’d go out on a limb and support one of the two teams while singing the national anthem. With that in mind, we’re going to bank on her dressing up just in normal clothes for the performance.

How long will it take Kelly Clarkson to sing the National Anthem?
Over/Under 1 minute 34 Seconds

Ms. Clarkson is more of a straightforward singer than a crooner that hangs on to every note, so the under seems to make more sense in this prop. We’ve seen some serious songstresses in the past like Jennifer Hudson really stretch out every single note and Clarkson has a different style. She’ll probably be direct and to the point, with maybe a bit of a stretch at the finale. Now let’s just hope she doesn’t mess up any words, which is also available as a separate prop at Bovada Sportsbook.
